WORKSHOP OUR PROGRAMMES FOR SCHOOL A CLASSROOM OF DIFFERENCE™ The “CLASSROOM OF DIFFERENCE” programme from A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute has been created to front the problem of diversity in schools of every grade. Programs consist in workshops for teachers, educators, administrators, students and families. Our interventions, through specific prevention activities, are aimed to contrast intolerance and represent a primary tool to prevent the diffusion of discrimination. PEER TRAINING PROGRAMME EPTO (European Peer Training Organization) is a youth organization created to promote the value of diversity and to fight every form of prejudice and discrimination. Peer Training Programme is based on the concept of peer education; it is realized by young professional educators who hold workshops through an interactive educational model. EPTO helps young people in developing the consciousness of one’s own identity and the ability to deal with diversity, to make everyone get over his own prejudices towards diversity.

CONTENTS, METHODS and ORGANIZATION Workshops deal with the following topics: Personal identity Definition of a common language Prejudice analysis Power of teachers: how to react to difficult situations Running conflicts Final evaluation Learning as an active process Interpersonal communication Communicative process Opening or closing communication: the process of exclusion Forms of interaction Listening and empathy Techniques of listening Roles Spontaneity and creativity Role structure Stereotype analysis and why they form Groups and leadership Assertiveness Action – learning – integration Conflict as a resource Critical situations Dealing with differences and planning actions Plan of personal development For every topic specific exercises are provided, related to the different matters of cultural diversity, and educational activities to be used later in classrooms. The workshop lasts for 12 hours at least and is run by two skilled educators who have attended a complete ADL – A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE ® institute course. Topics are introduced trough an interactive method which is aimed to provoke the participants in different ways, to create a favourable atmosphere to explore personal experiences, exchange ideas and feelings and to stimulate the common meditation.
